HISTORY-
Palampur is a town situated in Himachal Pradesh district Kangra. Himachal Pradesh came into existence as a state on 25 January, 1971 with the passing of an act by parliament. Name of the town “Palampur” is very symbolic. Palampur means water because its name is taken from the word “pulum”. Pulum is a pahari word as the meaning suggest, its called water. Palampur is also called dev bhumi because in Himachal there are thousands of temples thats why it is called as Dev “Bhumi Himachal”
LOCATION- Palampur is located in the northen side of kangra valley which is surrounded by Dhouladhar ranges. It has a bus stand which is well maintained and to reach there is a very easy task. Palampur is surrounded with pine trees, mountains, and very famous tea plants.
TOURISM – Tourism in Palampur is touching the sky. Palampur has each and every thing from holiday purpose to adventurous side. There are so many places in Palampur and they all are having their own beauty and charm. The town is very attractive and following are the main attractions of Palampur.

Palampur is a very attractive town. If person visit this town once he surely wants to visit it again. It is because it is such a place which is according to normal life. Its surroundings are so well maintained that adds charm to the beauty of this town. There are so many places that must be seen. In a year there are thousands of people who visit Palampur not just to have holidays and to watch new places here but they visit it because it is so eco friendly town. Neugal cafe-
Neugal cafe is situated near Neugal river that’s why its name is given on the name Neugal river. There is also a place called Bundla 1Km far from Neugal cafe where Vindyavasini temple is situated is also a worth seeing place. Near by Bundla there is a peak where Jakhni temple is situated which worth seeing too. One who wants to see the clear view of Dhouladhar ranges should visit these places.
Scenic Tea Gardens- Palampur is all surrounded by tea gardens. This adds beauty to the town. Palampur is mostly known for its tea gardens and is also called “tea capital of India”.

Bir Billing For Paragliding-
Palampur is also perfect for adventure purpose. There is a place called Bir which is 20 Km far from Palampur. Bir is famous for its paragliding. Every year the World Paragliding Championship is organised in Bir which atteracts the adventure lovers from all over the world.
Baijnath –
The town of Baijnath is 16 km from Palampur and is famous for its Shiva temple. Gopalpur-A mini zoo is also located at Gopalpur, which is at a distance of 13 km from Palampur. Chamunda Devi Mandir -The Chamunda Devi Temple 10 km from Palampur, is an important place to visit. Tashijong-There is a Tibetan monastery at Tashijong, which is 12 km away from Palampur. The monastery complex is famous for producing traditional Tibetan handicrafts. Dharmshala – dharmshala is a tourism oriented place. Mcload ganj is full of adventure and fun. There so many places in mclo which worth seeing.
Shopping- There are some branded showrooms, gurudwara market, lamba market etc. You can buy handlooms and kullu shawls. you will enjoy the walk in Palampur market place. Eating pani puri, ticky,ice-cream, and having patties in Adarsh Bakery is something beyond this world.
Nights of Palampur- In the nights the environment is so peacefull because there are no pub/disc, bars and theatres. Some restaurants are there but they are not opened till late night.
HOW TO REACH Palampur-
To reach Palampur there three ways.
By train- you can opt train as a medium to reach Palampur. It is very cheap medium. Train facility is provided from Pathankot to Baijnath
By air- There is no airport in Palampur. But there is a place called Gaggal Airport which is 39 Km from Palampur. You can come through this medium and after reaching Gaggal you can reach Palampur by bus or any other conveyance
By road- Himachal is having good transport facilities. Roads are well connected and there are regular buses and taxis through which you can reach Palampur.
